Divine, the only Fairtrade chocolate company co-owned by farmers, is introducing some fabulous new additions to its Christmas range.
New this year are some gorgeously festive treats available at Waitrose:
Dark and Milk Chocolate Foiled Balls and a Gift Box of dark, milk and white chocolate bars.
The smooth Milk Chocolate Foiled Balls come in a vibrant green cathedral pack decorated with falling snowflakes and image of mother & child around a Christmas tree. Made with Fairtrade sugar from Malawi and Fairtrade vanilla (real vanilla not vanilla flavouring) from India. As with all Divine products, the chocolates are free from artificial flavourings, colourings and preservatives. 100g pack available from Waitrose at £3.25; suitable for vegetarians.
The creamy rich Dark Chocolate Foiled Balls come in a midnight blue cathedral pack decorated with an image of the three wise men. Made with Divine’s critically acclaimed (see Editors’ Notes) 70% dark chocolate. Dairy free (but made in a factory where dairy products are made), suitable for vegetarians and vegans. 100g pack available from Waitrose at £3.25.
Also brand new for Christmas 2009 is a lovely little Gift Box containing a snack-sized (45g) bar of milk, dark and white chocolate. Delightfully packaged with a Christmassy scene, the bars themselves are wrapped in the Divine livery – decorated with traditional West African motifs called Adinkra symbols, each of which carry their own meaning. Available from Waitrose and Liberty at £2.99.
Divine have some lovely recipes that you might like to try this Christmas.
Arthur Potts Dawson, executive chef of London’s first truly eco-friendly restaurant Acorn House says, “Not only is their chocolate Fairtrade and co-owned by the Ghanaian cocoa farmers, but it’s a fantastic chocolate too”. Arthur and his chefs created this wonderful Chestnut & Chocolate Cake just for Divine. It uses Divine’s critically acclaimed* dark chocolate made with 70% cocoa solids as well as chestnuts which lend the cake a deep, moist flavour. It makes an ideal alternative to the traditional Christmas cake. View the recipe online: http://www.divinechocolate.com/recipes/celebrity/chestnutchocolatecake.aspx
