Win a signed copy of the DVD & Book
Travel the Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor and enjoy a cup of Cafédirect Fairtrade coffee. Follow Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman as they travel the Long Way Down through Europe and Africa in a new BBC2 series.
To mark their epic journey, we’re giving 1 lucky reader the chance to win a signed copy of the Long Way Down Book and DVD, and a pack of delicious Cafédirect Mount Elgon gourmet coffee beans.
Cafédirect gave Ewan and Charley their daily boost as they rode through 20 spectacular countries, from John O’Groats to Cape Town. As part of their intrepid 15,000 mile motorcycle adventure, Ewan and Charley visited Uganda. There they went to the Gumutindo Coffee Cooperative – one of Cafédirect’s grower partners and suppliers of Cafédirect Mount Elgon gourmet coffee beans. During their visit they mastered the art of coffee “cupping” (tasting) and learnt how to ‘shlurp and spit’ like professional tasters! Ewan and Charley were able to see first hand how Cafédirect’s long term relationship with Gumutindo (which means ‘excellent quality’ in the local language) has helped growers earn a decent living from their trade.
Ewan and Charley said: “We’ve learnt so much on Long Way Down. Our visit to the Gumutindo cooperative has shown us the positive impact that Fairtrade companies like Cafédirect are having on growers’ lives. We won’t look at our cappuccinos in the same way again!”
You can read all about the adventure at www.longwaydown.com.
